Legal Consultation and Strategy – consists of meeting with a legal associate and discussing the client’s concern – the client will be required to provide information necessary for the associate to appreciate the nature of the concern to sufficiently identify the specific legal issues, rights, and risks surrounding the concern. Thereafter, a legal strategy results whereby the client is given a customized plan to achieve the client’s goals, and navigate through legal hurdles effectively.

Litigation – consist of resolving disputes through the Philippine court system. This includes pre-litigation planning and preparation, filing a law suit or filing a response to a lawsuit. Clients will be required to provide necessary evidence which includes documents, testimony of witnesses, and other instruments necessary to prove a case or set up a defense. Litigation may involve civil law issues, criminal law issues, administrative laws, and other specialized laws.

Contracts Drafting and Review – Contracts Drafting consists of executing legally binding documents stating parties’ specific rights, obligations, and/or terms. On the other hand, reviewing contracts or documents involves analyzing and/or interpreting documents to understand and/or anticipate risks, ambiguities, and other legal issues. Contracts drafting and contracts review are essential to control risks and to ensure enforceability of agreements, as well avoiding any risks of litigation.

Out-of-court Negotiations, Settlements and Mediation – are series of talks and discussions that may be privately organized or scheduled by the client and a third party, geared towards arriving at a compromise or a new agreement to settle any active legal disputes or misunderstandings – to ultimately avert any litigation. These agreements may be witnessed by a notary public, or may be made before a judge without conducting any judicial hearing. The lawyer guides the client from the initial stages of negotiations to provide the propriety of a compromise, until the close of discussions which may result to either the resolution of the present dispute or the consideration of other remedies to attain the client’s objectives.

In mediation, the lawyer acts as an impartial intervenor, usually in corporate/business settings to provide an unbiased discussion of two conflicting interests in order to provide resolution and facilitate operation efficiency.

Conduct of Due Diligence – consists of the lawyer taking reasonable steps to obtain verified information involving a certain property or transaction to provide information to the client that would be necessary in the latter’s decision-making pertaining to the acceptance of a particular transaction or the propriety of the sale or purchase of a certain property. This service is usually conducted for clients prior to their agreement with other parties.

Real Property Conveyances and Registration – consist of the services necessary for the legal transfer of ownership or rights in a land or building. This service may include drafting of necessary deeds or in some instances, settlement of estates. Registration on the other hand, is the official and public recording of a land transfer with the Land Registration Authority (LRA), through the Registry of Deeds. The registration of a property declares the title of the registered owner and protects the owner from certain adverse claims.

Estate Settlements – consist of services necessary in identifying the properties of the deceased, identifying legal heirs, paying of estate taxes and other local taxes owing to any property left by the deceased, as well as distributing properties among the legal heirs of the deceased, and other services required to obtain the objectives of settling estates. This service is teamed with the transfer and registration of properties to the heirs as new owners thereof through succession. This service may be done without court intervention through a Deed/Affidavit, if certain requisites are complied with or through probate proceedings in court, if there is a valid Will and Testament.

Corporate Compliances – involves processing of documents to comply with regulations concerning businesses or corporations. The services under corporate compliances are designed to ensure that a company follows all mandatory rules and requirements in order to prevent the imposition of fines and penalties. The client will be directed to the legal path aimed to protect businesses from lawsuits and damages by managing apparent risks posed by its operations.

Legal Retainership – this involves the creation of a periodic relationship between the client and the lawyer, whereby the client secures the availability of the lawyer for his or her concerns in a given period of time. Usually, there is no definite concern in which the lawyer is engaged, but when the client expects, by reason of his or her profession, business, or government position, that legal advice or consultation is continuously required, the client is able to secure the availability of the lawyer for the specific concern. When a retainership agreement is entered into, the client is guaranteed the availability of AB Law through the assigned handling lawyer, for the required legal assistance.

Notarial Services – consists of witnessing the execution of a document, instrument, or deed by our in-house notary public which transforms a private document into a public document thereby verifying the identity of the parties executing the document as well as their voluntariness to enter into the transaction or execute the document. Notarizing documents prevents any questions on the documents authenticity, which makes the same conclusive even before the courts.
